REPLACE FRENCH FRIES WITH HEALTHIER ALTERNATIVES

by Expertish

There is no doubt that French fries are the most irresistible snacks universally but you can’t deny the fact that these delicious bites of fried potatoes are full of starch and saturated fats. While there is no need to give them up completely as you might crave them even more but it’s possible to replace them with healthier alternatives. So we have got you some easy crunchy substitutes which are yummy and will also satisfy your cravings.

BAKE, ROAST OR STIRY FRY

We are a true believer of eating local, organic and seasonal produce. The best way to have a healthy munching option is to choose your favourite veggie of the season and use your preferable cooking method to prepare it.

STIR FRIED GREEN BEANS

Green beans are totally nutritious and are also quite easy to cook. Just use a tea spoon of canola or olive oil, put handful of green beans and start stir frying it. You can add sesame seeds or pumpkin seeds to give a little texture and also increase it’s nutrient value. The next step it to season them with salt and pepper and cover with a lid so that the beans soften quickly. Those who like a little more flavour can also add garlic and onion powder while cooking their beans.

BAKED OR ROASTED BABY CORNS

Baby corns can be a healthy quick snack and also a great option to serve your guest as starters. You just have to boil 7-8 baby corns in water for 2 minutes. After draining them, you need to trim both the edges. Generously coat them in piri piri seasoning or any other of your choice. Let them bake in the pre heated oven for over 15 min on 180 degrees Celsius.

OTHER SNACKING OPTIONS

You can also slice zucchini , carrots, bell peppers in the same manner you slice potatoes for preparing French fries but instead of deep frying these veggies use any of the above mentioned method or bring out your own creativity. Last but not the least, don’t compare these recipes with French fries because that would be a pure sin. It’s just a way to have a healthy snacking habit without feeling guilty.
